Our story
Our charity, New Kapporet, was founded in 2020 by a multi-denominational group of Christians.
The name New Kapporet was given us by the Lord. The Kapporet is the golden cover of the Ark of the Covenant with two cherubim, one on each end. It was located in the Holy of Holies, and is also known as the mercy seat, where God would listen to His people. When Jesus died on the cross, the veil of the temple was torn in two (Matthew 27:51), signifying that now everyone, through Christ, has direct access to God's mercy. New Kapporet is the new place where the Lord can listen to His people.
We started with a free, anonymous and confidential Christian helpline in the UK, providing listening and prayer support for anyone who needs it, regardless of who they are, where they come from, or what they believe. No judgement, no advice, no preaching. We've recently expanded our services internationally by offering an email service, where anyone from anywhere can receive the support they need.
Today our ministry has volunteers based all over the UK and some from other parts of the world, coming from all walks of life and every mainstream Christian denomination. Everyone serving in New Kapporet shares a profound love for the Lord and a commitment to help others.
